The Smart Women Program was developed to educate and support women (and men it turns out!) during pregnancy and beyond. We emphasize good decision making, setting short and long term goals, and pregnancy or parenting education.

Each client begins with a one-on-one "Getting Acquainted" session where they reflect on their family of origin, their personality, and goal setting. Clients can then begin to meet with staff or a volunteer as they begin their program.

They may also attend Smart Women Class which is held every Thursday evening from 5:30-6:30 p.m. Clients "earn" Smart Women bucks to purchase maternity and baby items, diapers, formula, and baby furniture and items from APPLE PCC.

Smart Women Curriculum includes: (Just a few examples below)
The First Trimester, What's Safe - What Isn't, Getting Ready for Baby, Discipline with Love, How to Really Love Your Child.
Smart Women Classes include sessions like:
Brain Development - Play and Exploration, Organizing Your Paperwork, My Food Pyramid, Wants vs. Needs Budgeting, Getting and Keeping a Job, Scrapbooking or Watercolor classes, Marriage and Commitment, and a monthly fun night.

HOW CAN I HELP?
PRAY for the staff and volunteers, the clients and their children
DONATE diapers - especially sizes 3-4-5-6, baby clothing or furniture
VOLUNTEER to teach a Smart Woman Class if you have an area of expertise you think will fit into this program.
ATTEND Volunteer Training and meet with clients one-on-one.
