This year (2012), we've had many young people get involved in volunteering at APPLE. We love having them come to help - for many reasons.
First - we're blessed by their service. We get projects done that we may not have time to get to ourselves. It may be cleaning windows or organizing the baby clothing. It may be putting labels on a mailing. There are many ways to help.
Second - we get to know them and they learn about what a Pregnancy Center is all about. Our young people are often the first point of contact ... a friend tells them she's scared and pregnant. They can tell her that they know where she can get help - and hope. We think that's really wonderful and are always glad to have groups of students come to help us, or just learn more about APPLE.
Thanks to the High School girls from Jacob's Well - who had a thrift sale to benefit APPLE and raised $1,154.93! Incredible - and all their idea. They worked hard - and thanked US for allowing them to serve.
Thanks to students from Immaculate Conception School - A Work Of Love (AWOL) who came and made fleece blankets at the Center for our clients. One young man said "We watched a video about past patients who talked about how Apple changed their lives and it was really inspiring."
And thanks to the Whitehall girls from First Baptist Church who spent hours here cleaning, organizing, and putting labels on the Walk Save the Date postcards. It was a week of serving for them - their "summer mission trip".
Thanks so much for caring, showing up and working so hard. We appreciate all of you!
